Today, the best way I knew to make peace was to stand in my own kitchen, making a feast for a family celebration. Sure I could have stood my ground and spent the two hours it takes to travel downtown, stand and return. Even though I rose early to begin the cooking, I could not pull it off in time.
Sometimes standing for peace means standing in peace while chopping vegetables and whipping up the best ever chocolate cake from scratch.
We were too busy to take pics–first with the making, then with the greeting, and finally with the eating, so I’ve included an old image from a walk on one of San Francisco’s mosaic staircases. That, too, was a day filled with love and good company.
Nothing means peace like a joyful day spent with the ones we love the most.
Isn’t that what we’re all aiming for?
